Women Veterans Ambassador Program
Illinois is home to nearly 50,000 female veterans. This number increases significantly when considering female active duty, Guard & Reserve members. Women veterans often have issues unique from their male counterparts and they often prefer to only discuss their issues with other female veterans.
The Women Veterans Ambassador Programs seeks to identify and train strong female veterans in each Veteran Support Community to serve as Ambassadors, and to empower them to serve as advocates for women veterans’ issues at the local, regional, and state level. IJF will also coordinate to have Women Veteran Ambassadors trained as peer support specialists so they can provide much needed one-on-one support to their sisters in arms.
