Modie Lavin works as the Family Outreach Coordinator at the Road Home Program at Rush University Medical Center. Prior to coming to Rush, she was the Program Facilitator for Veterans at the Chicago Park District, and she worked closely with the Jesse Brown VA as well as other community service providers and organizations. Modie is a Gold Star Mother; her son, Cpl. Conner T Lowry was killed in Afghanistan. Regarding the impetus for her devotion to veteran-related causes Modie responds, "I feel that I am honoring my son and his sacrifice for our country by helping our returning veterans and families adjust to civilian life".
